TV legend Regis Philbin and wife Joy Philbin are trying to find a buyer for the mansion in Greenwich, Connecticut they purchased about ten years ago, The Wall Street Journal reports. But unfortunately for the Philbins, that's proving to be a little more difficult than anticipated, and they're now listing the house at a 36 percent discount compared to what they paid for it, at a little under $4.6 million.
The home is no slouch, designed in the English Manor style with a six-bedroom main house on a 2.59-acre lot that also includes a tennis court, motor court, swimming pool, and a guest house. But the market in Greenwich is in the midst of a significant slump, with more and more affluent New Yorkers heading back to the city proper (about 40 miles from the Philbin house) or other popular locales like Florida. According to the property's listing agent Joseph Barbieri of Sotheby's International Realty, the lower asking price is an indication that the Philbins have "acclimated to the market, as disappointing as it is."

Joy Philbin herself released a statement of her own about the couple's decision to sell the house. They plan, she says, to relocate in California so they can be closer to their family. She goes on:
"We've moved around a lot and lived in many houses together but this house will always be our favorite. We celebrated many birthdays and holidays and never had to worry about inviting too many of our family and friends. There was always room for everyone."
That's no surprise, since the house measures in at more than 13,600 square feet, with two baths in the master suite alone, and another ten throughout the house. Other amenities include no fewer than seven fireplaces, plus a sun room, pub room, game room, billiard room, home theater, gym, sauna, and wine cellar. And someone out there is going to get it all for a relative steal.
